Current Rumors (10/17/2000):

zo's out. that's right, alonzo mourning is out for the season. he has a rare condition of the kidney's called focal glomerulosclerosis that, if left without treatment, would require either dialysis or a transplant within 2 years. the heat are expected to petition the league for a medical exemption (to be worth about $3.9 mill) and are expected to offer joe smith that money if he becomes a free agent as a result of his arbitration hearing. this almost guarantees that joe will go to miami because the next biggest offer are the $2.25 mill exceptions offered by new york and dallas. now, i'm not the world's biggest zo fan, but he (as novo put it) 'comes to play everyday'. he leaves it all on the floor. he's played with a broken nose, broken fingers and just about anything else that you can imagine. this problem is extremely serious and i hope that zo recovers quickly.

felipe lopez is benefitting from his new surroundings in washington. apparently, he's lighting shit up playing along with rip hamilton, mitch richmond and juwan howard. look for washington to surprise some people and possibly vie for a playoff spot.

latrell sprewell is lobbying new york management for them to do whatever they can to acquire chris webber. people close to cwebb that are outside of sacramento are saying that he is unhappy with his current club and a mid-season trade wouldn't offend him, but he won't be asking for one. sacramento is still hopeful that he'll sign a contract extension.

trajon langdon, the first NBA player to come from alaska, may become to the first person from alaska to be cut from an NBA team. eventhough he was an all-american at duke, he was labelled as one-dimensional (shooting) and everyone was shocked when the cavs drafted him in the first round. now, it looks like he's on the bubble to be cut. other players may have less game, but he's got more money to his name, therefore, he's out the door.

shaquille o'neal has taken quite a shining to the stanford rookie, mark 'mad dog' madson. shaq is impressed with his all-out hustle in practice. shaq has gone on record saying that anyone messing with mark, will be messing with him. must be nice to have superman watching your ass. shaq isn't the only one that madson is impressing. the coaching staff of the lakers are amazed at their choice and say that he will be a 'factor in their game plan'. i've got a picture (somewhere) of madson dunking on lamar odom in the NCAA tourney. i'll find that and post it.
