shaquille o'neal signed a contract extension with the lakers today. he'll now be a laker through the 2005-2006 season. the deal is worth the maximum that he could sign for: 3 years/88.5million. damn.

talks about dikembe mutombo continue to surface. the latest deal has mutombo going to the knicks for camby, childs, money and some draft picks, good stuff for a team on the rebound like the hawks are. however, the hawks are saying that that isn't enough and are asking more. the possible missing link is latrell sprewell (who the knicks are saying is untouchable). with the retiring of rik smits, the pacers are in need of a new big man and have expressed their interest in dikembe. the only player of any talent is al harrington, who isn't exactly an all-star, but has showed possible all-star potential.

jerry krause, the ever popular gm in chicago, has all but said that ron mercer will be the star in chi town. this makes no fuckin sense. sure, mercer is a talented player, but he won't take them anywhere. if the bulls do go anywhere (which i don't see happening before schlosser gets married), it'll be because of the ultra-talented, co-rookie of the year elton brand, not mercer.
