Past Rumors (09/23/2000):

despite the rumours that the kinds are shopping chris webb around, he's still a king and according to their gm, he will stay that way. the word on the street was that the knicks were interested in adding webb to their roster in exchange for marcus camby and either allan houston or latrell sprewell. the knicks are looking to shore up their front line with a talented center and cwebb is about as talented as they come, eventhough he's not a natural center. also, cwebb is a free-agent at the end of this season and it's been reported that he's looking to win a championship and he thinks that the knicks could deliver one, and that was before they acquired glen rice and lost pat ewing.

it appears as if the atlanta hawks are planning build around dikembe mutombo. mutombo was reported to be involved in the deal that sent ewing to the sonics. he would've been sent to the knicks for probably horace grant and maybe chris dudley. my question is, why are they stating that they'll build around him now when they signed him about 5 years ago?? well....it's his contract year and the hawks want to show him that they're serious about building a contender. too little, too late. he's been in atlanta for a while now and the furthest he's been in the playoffs is the second round when they got whooped by the bulls (there's classic film of jordan wagging his finger in mutombo's face after dunking on him). he'll bolt this coming summer.
