Past Rumors (09/15/2000):

seems as if the griz are gonna finally make a move this summer. they have too many power forwards, especially since they signed ike austin (or traded for him, i don't remember). now, the rumour has it that since joe smith is available and othella harrington doesn't like canada at all (which is good because canada sure as hell doesn't like him), a deal may be done. i think this would be very beneficial to the griz. play joe in front of stromile and allow the young chap time to grow into the role of a starting power forward in the NBA. joe smith is a proven player and has the ability to be an all-star someday.

the bulls are geting serious about obtaining glen rice. the reported offer is of 7.5 million$$ for one year. this would give glen the chance to run if he didn't like the situation. no word if they would still allow him to ask for a trade in december if he didn't like it, like was earlier reported.

the raptors new priority is to lock vince up in a long term deal. the raptors have options for next year and the year after, but then he's a free man. the deal is to get him to sign an extension. the thing is, he'd like to play closer to his home in dayton (which would be....orlando). on the other side of the coin, tho, is the 2008 Toronto Olympic bid has asked Vince to be a spokesman for the city. how can one be a spokesman for a city that you're not in???????

now, a word on bobby knight.....

i think that the firing of bobby knight was just, that doesn't mean that i think he's a bad coach, or even a bad person. bobby (sorry, that should be mr. knight) agreed in may to a zero tolerance stipulation in his contract that said the university wouldn't put up with is shit. he acted out, he's gone. however, let's look @ some facts: he's won 3 national championships, he's never had to deal with any NCAA violations, and he takes care of his student athletes after college. dean smith (my personal coaching hero) has praised him as a coach, as has bobby bowden, two very respected coaches. bobby knight has a future, just not with the NCAA. latest rumour has it that he might be an assitant coach in with the indiana pacers. a good fit, if you ask me. the team has some young 'uns that need some discipline. isiah thomas isn't the one to give it out. what do you think?? send me your rants and your raves. the good ones will be posted either here, or on the message board.
