Rumors from the Ass Past Rumors (07/15/2000): well, it seems as if duncan will be the only one of the three big free agents that orlando was trying to woo as tmac will join ghill in disney world. he is expected to sign a 6yr/$67.5 million. to replace him, the raptors are trying to sign every free agent SF on the market, which includes austin croshere, rashard lewis, cuttino mobley and many others. well, it appears as if shareef abdur rahim will finally get the respect that he deserves. he's been named to the US olympic team as a replacement for grant hill. all that i can say is that it's about damned time that people other than canadians and hardcore NBA fans get to see reef strut his stuff. brian grant might be moved, only if portland can get the right package. New York has been trying to get him. so far, they've offered chris childs and marcus camby (rejected) and a re-signed kurt thomas and childs (also rejected). portland gm, bob whitsitt, asked for thomas and latrell sprewell which was flatly refused by NYC. if portland doesn't sign grant soon, they might lose him for nothing as he might just sign with new york and leave the blazers out in the cold. a team in the NBA might be on the move, but it's not the grizzlies. it's the houston rockets. the rockets are in desparate need of a new arena and one has been proposed which will be voted on by the houston citizens. don't count on them passing it, though. they turned down a cheeper deal last year. also, the commish (david stern) has said that without a new arena by 2003, houston would be relocated to another city, with louisville being a big possibility. check out saveourrockets.com for more info. ed |
