Past Rumors (07/09/2000):

well, it's official. grant hill will be a magician this fall. too bad. i thought the pistons were gonna build a dynasty around him with isiah thomas, denis rodman, joe dumars, and the rest of the bad boys. shame.... with ghill out of motown, that means that they have some cap space to land a young free agent like rashard lewis or jalen rose. also, they will be able to get younger. the front office there was adding veterans to placate hill and with him gone, they can get younger and start over.

with tmac everything but gone from toronto, glen grunwald is looking to replace him. a possible filler, jalen rose. rose impressed everyone this season. but, there's more than one team interested in rose. chicago, detroit and indiana are all still in the picture. one source has him staying in indiana with isiah thomas (jeez, how can he coach in indiana and play in detroit?? there's gotta be a violation somewhere) and running the point.

everyone knows that the raptors need a point man, and they may have found one, in anthony carter. they just about landed him at the trading deadline for tmac and now, they are offering carter a better deal that miami is. also, they may sign mark jackson. oh, after today, i'm not publishing anything on where tracy mcgrady will sign. he has a different story for everyone. according to him, he'll be playing for at least three teams this winter: orlando, chicago, and toronto. tracy stories may be changing b/c of offering that teams are giving him. word has it that orlando made him an offer, but it wasn't for the max (but it did include several 'rings', if you know what i mean). also, the raptors may be offered a sign and trade deal for tmac by orlando with ron mercer and 2 of the magic's 2001 draft pics going to TO. a more unlikely deal has darrel armstrong (no relation to colin) and ron mercer to TO and then the magic trying to sign antonio daniels to fill in for armstrong. this would almost guarantee the arrival of tim duncan in town as daniels and duncan are good friends (not that there's anything wrong with that).

the boston celtics are in the hunt for austin croshere. ever since croshere compliment pitino, there's been rumours. also, the celtics have been rumoured to be sending antoine walker to chicago for jermaine o'neal (provided that he gets traded to the bulls from portland).

big news out of portland.....rasheed wallace and damon stoudamire might be packing their bags. for some reason, the front office is unhappy with the technical foul record setting ability of wallace. also, with brian grant demanding more minutes and refusing to play centre, this means that sheed is the odd man out. this seems stupid as sheed led the 'blazers in scoring. not sure where he'll end up, but he'd look nice in a raptor or sonic jersey. both teams have somthing to give (toronto - either oak or davis and sonics - vin 'i suck hard' baker). also, look for the suns to put oliver miller on the table for a deal. it had better be a reinforced one, that's for damned sure. as for mighty mouse, isiah is still in love with him and he might be trying to bring him to indiana, but for who??

the grizzlies - yes, they are still in the league - are trying to land themselves a free agent. this might be tough to do, as all their starting positions are locked up with young talent (and i use that word loosely with reeves) and they are looking for backups and role players. 2 players that are interested are chauncey billups and bobby jackson. i like jackson b/c he can play the point more effectively than billups. i feel that billups would give the ball to reeves too many times which would screw the griz over more than they need. also, billups is injury prone and hasn't played an entire season. in fact, i think he's missed as much as he's played. sounds like schloss' kind of player.
